I am ready for my forever home!

Oreo is a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd/Doodle cross who has already had quite the journey. Originally arriving at Many Tears as an unsold puppy from a breeder, he had never experienced life in a home. His first adoption sadly didn’t work out due to lead reactivity and lunging at cars, and he was passed between rescues before finding his way back to us. But since returning, and especially in his current foster home Oreo has truly blossomed into a happy, sociable and affectionate boy bursting with love and energy.

Oreo is now walking beautifully on the lead and his off-lead adventures on beaches, lakes and in fields show just how far he has come. He absolutely adores running and playing with other dogs and is always happiest when he has a canine friend to follow and learn from. While Oreo may still have the occasional overexcited moment if another dog reacts to him first, his behaviour has improved enormously. He now passes traffic and dogs confidently and just needs a confident, experienced owner to carry on his training.

At home Oreo is a cuddlebug and a joy to live with, gentle, friendly, and brilliant with children (6+), dogs, cats and even a parrot. He shares toys beautifully, loves his home comforts and absolutely adores being part of family life. He recently even went camping and was as good as gold spending his days happily chewing bones and toys before curling up in the tent for a snooze.

Oreo is housetrained in his foster home (currently 9 days clean and doing brilliantly!) but may need a little patience settling into a new house. His ideal forever home will provide:

  • An active, structured lifestyle with two good daily walks (currently 40 minutes in the morning and 90 minutes in the evening)
  • At least one kind, castrated resident dog, or plenty of daily doggy interaction if he is to be an only dog
  • Someone who can continue his training with clear, kind boundaries and plenty of enrichment

His recall is now excellent (especially if you have chicken or ham!) and he is calm enough to accompany his foster carer to work, happily snoozing in their office once he’s had his exercise. He also travels perfectly in the car.

Oreo is clever, fun-loving and incredibly affectionate. With routine, time and the right leadership, he is ready to become the most loyal, joyful and entertaining companion you could wish for.

If you’re looking for a bright, bouncy best friend bursting with love, Oreo is ready to zoom into your life and your heart.
