A Gentle Girl with a Beardy Smile and a Brave Heart

Meet Melody, a 1-year-old crossbreed who came to us from Romania after being born in a shelter there. She’s a beautiful young lady, and her gentle nature truly matches her name. Melody may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but with kindness and patience, she blossoms into a quietly affectionate and loyal companion.

Melody’s early life was incredibly tough. Her mum, injured and struggling, gave birth to six puppies in a shelter under difficult conditions. Thanks to the compassion of supporters, the family was rescued and given a safe foster placement in Romania, where Melody has grown up with care and love. Now, she is looking for her forever home here in the UK.

She was briefly adopted but sadly returned, simply due to a mismatch with the resident dog. Melody is now hoping for a calm and quiet home with a kind, steady resident dog who will be her friend and help her continue building confidence. To support her transition, she should be fed separately and given space during mealtimes until routines are well established.

Melody walks beautifully on a lead and enjoys gentle strolls, particularly in quieter areas. She is sensitive to busy environments, so a peaceful setting would suit her best. She has been making wonderful progress with her house training and has started learning about crate routines, sleeping peacefully through the night in one.

She absolutely adores kind people once she knows them and is already showing how brave she can be. Just recently, she climbed Pen y Fan – the highest peak in South Wales – alongside her kennel carers and her dog friends Ronald and Bailey. At first, she was unsure of the hustle and bustle, but with encouragement and company, she found her confidence and had a truly joyful day, complete with a pup cup, cuddles, and tail wags.

Melody is not just beautiful – complete with a charming little beard that makes her look like part gentle soul, part circus star – but she’s also incredibly special. What she needs now is a patient and loving home where she can feel safe, grow in confidence, and continue her journey from shy girl to cherished family member.

Melody has tested negative for Brucella canis and comes with her travel documentation.
