Joy
08-06-25 Joy has come to us from a breeder in search of the love and safety of her forever home. She was briefly adopted, but sadly returned the very next day through no fault of her own, as the resident dog didn’t take to her. Despite this abrupt change, Joy showed real promise, she gently explored her surroundings, jumped up onto the sofa, and accepted her new circumstances with quiet grace. Now that she’s had even the smallest taste of home life, we are more hopeful than ever that her forever family is just around the corner.
Joy is a sensitive and gentle girl who is understandably feeling overwhelmed right now. She’s a worried soul who doesn’t yet know that the world can be kind, but beneath her nervous exterior is a dog who so wants to feel safe and loved.
At the moment, human touch is still quite frightening for her, and it’s likely she hasn’t experienced much kindness in the past. Because of this, Joy will need a calm, quiet, adult-only home with adopters who can offer her the time, space, and patience to build trust. A home with experience of scared ex-breeding dogs would be especially helpful.
Despite her fears, we’ve already seen small but wonderful signs of progress, Joy has begun to enjoy moments of play in the garden, and it’s truly heartwarming to witness these first glimpses of joy (true to her name!) begin to shine through.
Joy will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to guide her, provide reassurance, and help her understand that people can be gentle and good. She draws strength from the company of other dogs and will feel much safer with a canine companion by her side.
Having never lived in a home before, she will need support as she learns all about the smells, sounds, and routines of indoor life, including house training. She’s also not yet used to walking on a lead, so she will need to begin her training slowly, starting in a secure garden and building confidence at her own pace.
Joy’s journey will take time, but with love, patience, and gentle encouragement, we know she will grow into the beautiful companion she was always meant to be. If you have a quiet heart and a warm home, Joy may just be the one to complete your family.
