16-09-25 Josey has come to us from a breeder and she truly is an angel in dog form. Every member of staff is completely besotted with her, and it’s impossible not to fall in love. She is the gentlest soul, affectionate in the softest, sweetest way. She loves nothing more than to be by your side, offering quiet companionship and love.

Josey gets along wonderfully with her kennel friends and she has even met cats and been perfectly polite. She absolutely LOVES her food and belly rubs, and she’s an angel to groom or handle in any way. She is still learning to walk on a harness, but true to her nature, she’s a little on the lazy side and often prefers to sit back and watch the world go by.

She is confident enough that she could be homed as an only dog in the right circumstances as long as her adopters were around most of the time. She could also happily share her home with another kind and laid back resident dog. She did on one occasion show some jealously towards another dog when her kennel mum was fussing them, so if she was to be homed with another dog, her adopters would need to be confident managing this and working on it with her. Josey can also live with older, dog-savvy teenagers who will give her the space and understanding she needs as she settles in. This sweet, gentle girl has stolen all of our hearts, and she will make the most wonderful, loving companion for a very lucky family.

When Josey arrived with us, she had a very sore and infected mouth, so we made sure she saw the vet straight away. She initially had 10 teeth removed and began treatment for the infection to help her feel more comfortable. A few weeks later, at her follow-up dental, she required a further 6 teeth removed. While under anaesthetic, she also had a benign lump taken off the side of her head.

More recently, Josey has been diagnosed with a chronic inflammatory condition called chronic ulcerative stomatitis (kissing ulcer). This is a long-term issue, but it is being managed with veterinary guidance to ensure she remains as comfortable as possible. Her adopters will need to be aware of this as it will not be covered by insurance.

Despite everything she has been through, Josey’s spirit has remained gentle, sweet, and hopeful. She is the kindest little soul who asks for very little but has so much love to give. Josey truly deserves a quiet, understanding home where she can feel safe, cherished, and free to blossom into the happy companion we know she is meant to be.

With a kind resident dog to offer her reassurance, and patient adopters who can give her the time she needs, Josey will make the most wonderful addition to a loving family.
