A Gentle Soul Taking Her First Brave Steps

Janey is a 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel who has come to us from a breeder to find the loving forever home she has always deserved. She had very little human contact before arriving and is understandably very scared of being touched or handled. Life in a home is all new to her, and she is still learning to trust that the world can be safe and kind.

Since arriving in foster care two weeks ago, Janey has begun to make slow but beautiful progress. Although still worried, she now comes into the room with her fosterers and will occasionally sniff their hands. She’s not yet ready to take treats directly but will gently accept them if they’re placed nearby. It’s clear she is watching, learning, and building up courage in her own quiet way.

Janey has found comfort and companionship in the company of the other dogs in her foster home, including some older pups she has even played with. Seeing her interact and find moments of joy is truly heartwarming. She is gentle with all the male and female dogs she’s met and will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and show her the ropes.

Because Janey has never lived in a home before, she will need ongoing support with house training and lead walking. Everything must be introduced slowly and gently, at her pace, starting in a secure garden when she is ready. Her ideal home would be calm, quiet, and adult-only, with experienced adopters who understand the needs of scared ex-breeding dogs and are willing to give her the time she needs.

Janey also has some hormonal alopecia, which is causing some hair loss at the moment, but now she has been spayed this should begin to grow back.

Janey is still at the beginning of her journey, but with patience, kindness, and a loving heart beside her, she has every chance to blossom into the sweet and happy dog she was always meant to be. If you can offer her the gentle, understanding home she needs, please consider giving this lovely girl her second chance.
