Journey
Journey came to us from a breeder, stepping into a world she had never known before. In those first days, she was a shy, overwhelmed little girl, unsure of everything and everyone. The sights, sounds, and rhythms of life outside her old world were all brand new and more than a little frightening.
When she first arrived, Journey would keep her distance, watching quietly from the safety of her corner. But even then, we saw glimmers of curiosity in her eyes, small sparks of hope that, with love and patience, could grow. And grow they have.
Just over a month later, this once-standoffish girl now greets her carer each morning with a wagging tail. She happily sits nearby, leans in for a good sniff, and even takes treats gently from a hand she once avoided. She’s learning that people can be safe, that kindness is real, and that she doesn’t have to protect herself anymore.
Journey still has her boundaries, she’s not yet a fan of being touched or handled, but even here, she’s making strides. When she needs to be picked up, she no longer panics. Instead, after a little run-around, she’ll pause, lie down, and wait to be scooped up, settling quietly in loving arms. She’s even handled a partial grooming session with grace when tangles needed to be removed.
Her progress may seem like small steps to some, but for a dog who started so scared, they are giant leaps. Journey is looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with adopters experienced in caring for shy ex-breeding dogs. She will need at least one kind, confident resident dog to be her role model, guide, and friend.
Journey will need her adopters to be kind as she learns about house training, and walking on a lead, so patience, gentleness, and time will be essential. But for those willing to give her that chance, the reward will be watching her blossom into the loyal, gentle sweetheart she’s meant to be.
Journey’s story has only just begun, and with the right home, her next chapter will be her happiest yet.
