Jelly
Jelly is a beautiful, sensitive girl who came to us from a breeder in search of a kind and understanding forever home. Life has not been easy for her, and when she first arrived, she was extremely frightened and overwhelmed by her new surroundings. Human contact was completely new, and at first she would bark and panic when approached, unsure of what to expect.
Over time, with gentle handling and patience, Jelly has begun to make slow but steady progress. She no longer barks constantly to be left alone and is showing signs of being more comfortable simply sharing space with people she knows. While she still isn’t ready to approach for affection, this is her journey, and she will take those brave steps when she feels ready.
Handling has always been Jelly’s biggest fear, but she is proving how brave she can be. Recently, she managed her very first full groom, something we weren’t sure she’d be able to cope with. Thanks to the kindness of our volunteer groomer, Jelly got through it, and she looked absolutely beautiful afterwards. It was a huge milestone for her and a sign of the progress she is capable of with calm, consistent support.
She has now allowed her kennel mummy to pick her up, and once she is in her arms she actually starts to settle. She has started relaxing more and sleeping during the afternoons instead of the consistent state of panic she was once in, which just shows us that she is looking for a home and a bed to call her own.
Jelly is looking for a very quiet and patient, adult-only home with adopters who are experienced in helping nervous ex-breeding dogs. She must have at least one kind and confident resident dog to show her the ropes, offer comfort, and help her learn that the world can be a safe and happy place. She will need plenty of time to settle, gentle reassurance, and a home where she can take everything at her own pace without ever being rushed.
She has never lived in a home before, so house training and learning to walk on a lead will be new to her, but with time, routine, and encouragement, she will get there. Her adopters will need to celebrate the little victories, the first time she wags her tail, or the first time she takes a treat from their hand, because for Jelly, those moments will be truly magical.
Jelly is not a dog who will change overnight, but with love, kindness, and commitment, she will continue to grow in confidence. She is a very special girl who just needs to be given a chance and to never be given up on.
