Lockie
Lockie is a handsome Springer Spaniel who has sadly found himself back in our care after being adopted and then returned. He originally came to us from a breeder and had been lucky enough to find a loving home where he was very much adored. However, he did begin to show some difficulties, including taking a dislike to a male family member, reacting unpredictably on occasion, and showing signs of jealousy when others received attention from his chosen person. For this reason, Lockie is now searching for an experienced, adult-only home with no visiting children, where he can feel safe, secure, and truly understood.
With the people he trusts, Lockie is an absolute delight. He is a wiggly-bottomed, happy lad who loves tummy rubs, cuddles, and following his human everywhere. He is clever, eager to please, and very food-motivated, making him a quick learner with positive reinforcement. He already knows some important basics like “sit,” he is house trained (though he may need a little refresher), and he sleeps well overnight without fuss.
Lockie adores his walks and generally walks nicely on the lead, though he can pull when excited, so he’ll benefit from continued training. Like any good Spaniel, he loves to play fetch, chasing a ball is his absolute favourite pastime, and he could happily play all day if you’d let him! Once he’s had his fun, he’s just as content to settle down for cuddles and quiet time.
In his previous home, Lockie did sometimes struggle with reactivity towards other dogs when on walks, but this hasn’t been seen during his time back in kennels. Here, he has shared with both male and female dogs and gets along well, though he’s just as happy playing independently with his ball. For this reason, he could live as the only dog in the home or alongside a calm, friendly canine companion. He can be left for short periods (around 2.5 hours) and has shown that he can settle well when alone.
Lockie has so much love to give and is simply waiting for the right people to help him thrive. He’s looking for an experienced, patient family who will continue his training with kindness and consistency, give him plenty of playtime and enrichment, and most importantly, offer him the safe and loving forever home he deserves.
