  • Human family requirements

I need a calm and quiet, adult only home where I can settle in at my own pace.

  • Other pet requirements

I will need a kind resident dog to take me under their wing. I have never met cats.

  • House and garden requirements

I would like a secure garden to spend time in.

  • Out and about requirements

I enjoy going on walks and adventures to the big play yard!

  • Training needs

I may know a little bit of house training, but might need a refresher.

  • Medical issues

I have been neutered and have had my right back dew claw removed.

Yaffle is a gentle, sensitive boy who came to us from a breeder, frightened and shut down from the world. When he first arrived, he looked utterly defeated, as though he had never known kind hands or gentle words. Since arriving with us, he has made so much progress and it has been truly beautiful to witness. Having a routine has helped him so much and he now feels safe and settled in his kennel and play yard and his confidence continues to grow. He gets very excited to see his kennel mummy each morning and now adores having fuss and attention from her and loves to jump up onto the bench to sit beside her, something he does every single time she sits down. It’s their special little routine and shows just how far he has come.

Yaffle was very briefly adopted but sadly returned to us as the resident dog found him a little too enthusiastic and boisterous in his play. He can also be overly excitable at times and will need adopters who are happy to continue working on his manners as he settles.

Yaffle gains a great deal of comfort and confidence from other dogs and will be looking for a home with a kind, confident resident dog who enjoys play and can match his energy levels.

During his short stay in a home, Yaffle found the initial settling-in period challenging. We are told there was one moment of uncertainty when he became overwhelmed, however we have not seen any concerning behaviour in the time that he has been with us.

For this reason, Yaffle will be best suited to a calm, adult-only home with experienced adopters and no visiting children, where he can settle at his own pace and feel secure.

Despite the above, Yaffle's adopters adored him and were very sad to have to return him. They said that he is a wonderful boy who settled in to home life well and would constantly have a waggy tail! He was especially fond of the female adopter in the home and would follow her around and would be so excited to see her. He was a little more worried about the male adopter, but was starting to come out of his shell with him too.

Yaffle has made so much progress and has now learned to walk on a lead and harness and enjoys going for walks and adventures. He especially enjoys going to the big play yard to run and zoom around off lead! He prefers to be walked in quiet areas and can become worried if he sees humans, so his adopters will need to work on building his confidence with this.

He loves his food, loves yak bones and loves to play fetch with a tennis ball. Although he had never lived in a home before, he was doing very well adjusting to home life and was already clean in the home and doing his business outside.

Yaffle is a wonderful boy and in the right home, with the right canine companion by his side, we think he is going to truly blossom into the most wonderful boy.

He currently has a limp on his back right leg, and is being monitored by the vets.
