  • Human family requirements

I need a quiet home where I won’t be overwhelmed while I settle in at my own pace.

  • Other pet requirements

I can be an only dog, but no cats in the home please!

  • House and garden requirements

I’m still shy, so I will need a secure garden while I get used to my new home.

  • Out and about requirements

I’d enjoy one or two quiet walks a day and plenty of cuddle time.

  • Training needs

I’ve lived in a home before but might have a few accidents at first.

  • Medical issues

I have scars on my body and have had an entropion repaired.

Roxy has come to us from a home where her owner was unable to cope and is unmistakably a Great Dane, her regal size and gentle eyes turn heads wherever she goes. But how many people truly understand what Great Danes were bred for? Great Danes originally developed in Germany to guard estates and stand alongside their people, they are powerful yet noble dogs, known for their deep loyalty and calm nature. Which describes Roxy perfectly.

She is a loving, sweet-natured girl who adores her people once she feels safe. With strangers, she can be shy and a little withdrawn, but never nasty and provided with patience and time, her warm personality begins to shine through.

Roxy was in foster for a few months and loved her time in a home and clearly felt secure and happy in the home environment. Now that she has experienced the comforts of home life, we are especially eager to see her back in a home where she can continue to thrive. Roxy has been known to climb and due to her size, she will need a fenced garden that can accommodate her. Roxy would do best with large-breed experienced owners who can ensure she feels safe, supported, and well-managed in new situations. She needs calm, confident guidance and someone who understands the needs and sensitivities of a giant breed.

She would do best living with another large, preferably male dog, or as an only dog if her people are around most of the day. Because she has previously shown a dislike for certain dogs, she has been muzzle-trained for safety on walks. She accepts this calmly, and it's an important step to keep both Roxy and other dogs safe. If you're not comfortable walking a dog in a muzzle when needed, please do not apply.

Roxy walks very nicely on a lead, enjoys gentle strolls, and is starting to be clean in the house. However, she may have a few accidents as she settles into a new routine, so some understanding and patience are essential.

She truly is the sweetest lady! She is affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. She just needs a home that can give her time, patience, and love, and in return, she will give you her whole heart.
