Sarah-Rose
Sarah-Rose is a very special girl who came to us from a breeder in Ireland in search of a forever home filled with patience, understanding, and quiet love. Her life before rescue was one of confinement and uncertainty, and while she has come a long way since arriving in foster care, she’s still learning what it means to be safe and loved.
At first, everything was overwhelming for Sarah-Rose. She froze when approached, often needing to be carried if she was too frightened to move. But slowly and surely, she is beginning to show us who she truly is beneath the fear, that she is a dog with a gentle heart, a wagging tail, and a growing curiosity about the world around her.
She now moves freely between the house and the garden and has begun to seek out affection, gently nudging for strokes and enjoying grooming sessions. Her love of food is starting to show and is much more confident at mealtimes.
Sarah-Rose still startles at loud noises or sudden movements, and she’s not ready for walks just yet, though she is now working on harness training and is taking it on in stride. Her foster home is gently working with her on this, and while it will take time, she continues to make progress at her own pace.
She sleeps peacefully through the night, is clean in the house, and toilets in the garden. She is gaining confidence as long as a furry companion is around and has been known to be left for a few hours without any issues. Sarah-Rose finds great comfort in the company of other dogs and must have a kind, confident resident dog to guide and support her. She’s also cat-friendly and respectful of their space.
Medically, Sarah-Rose occasionally shows lameness in her front left leg, which is being monitored and may improve over time with muscle development. However, it could require treatment in the future. She was seen by a specialist, who also noted a possible issue with her back legs. This concern appears to be intermittent, and our vets observed no issues with her mobility during their assessment. No further tests are planned at this time, but treatment may be needed later on. Additionally, she has two fractured teeth that may require attention in the future.
Sarah-Rose has already made wonderful progress, and in the right home, she is calm, quiet, and full of love, and we just know that in her forever home she will continue to flourish. She needs someone who sees not just the timid girl she is today, but the joyful, trusting companion she is slowly becoming. If you have the time, patience, and heart to help Sarah-Rose on her journey, she will reward you with loyalty, love, and the quiet joy of watching a truly special dog learn to live.
