27-12-25 Narlie is a beautiful Lurcher who originally came to us as part of an unwanted litter and was adopted as a young pup. After spending most of his life in a loving home, he has sadly found himself back at the rescue through no fault of his own following a relationship breakdown. Narlie was adopted again, but sadly an unexpected change in his new home’s circumstances, alongside ongoing separation anxiety, meant he was returned. His adopters were actively working through this with him and said that apart from his separation anxiety, he was practically perfect. He is now searching again for the committed, understanding forever home he truly deserves.

He adores human company and wants nothing more than to be by your side. At home, Narlie is a true sofa and duvet lover who enjoys snuggling up in bed at night. He will happily settle in his own bed if asked, but his favourite place is always close to his person.

Narlie is bright and inquisitive, but sometimes can be a little too clever! He can open doors, cupboards, and even fridges if they have handles, so a home with secure storage (or door knobs!) is a must. He loves to explore, sniff, and investigate, and he already knows several commands such as sit, paw, and stay. He is fully toilet trained, though he may do some initial marking when visiting a new home for the first time. Out on walks he is a dream on the lead and does not pull.

Narlie greets visitors with great enthusiasm and may still jump up at the door, although this has improved with training. He is big, strong, and loves kisses and cuddles, so his new family should enjoy a very affectionate companion.

One important thing to understand about Narlie is that he has severe separation anxiety. If left alone, even for relatively short periods, he can become destructive in his panic - chewing, climbing onto counters, knocking things over, and attempting to escape. He has damaged furniture and doors in the past. His new home must be prepared to manage this safely and should ideally not leave him for more than 20–30 minutes until he becomes more secure. A long walk helps him settle better, but he will need patience, structure, and a dedicated person or family to help him feel safe.

With other dogs, Narlie is extremely friendly and loves to greet everyone. He isn’t aggressive, but his enthusiastic barking, snorting, and fast zooming can worry nervous dogs. He runs very quickly and just wants to kiss and play with every dog he meets. However, in the home he can be jealous and dominant, and he does not seem to gain comfort from living with another dog. For this reason, Narlie would be happiest as the only dog in his new home, but can live with other dogs if a suitable match.

Narlie cannot live with cats, as he will chase them. He is fine with chickens. He loves children and is gentle and sweet with them, but because he is large and bouncy, older dog-savvy children would be the best match.

Narlie is a truly wonderful, loving dog who desperately wants companionship and security. He will thrive with someone who is home most of the time, understands separation anxiety, and can offer the patience, structure, and affection he needs. With the right guidance and a committed adopter, Narlie will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion.
