Larry
A Survivor With a Gentle Soul
Larry’s story is one of heartbreak, survival, and hope. He was rescued from the notorious Lotte dog meat farm in Incheon, South Korea, just before Bok-nal - a time when many dogs are slaughtered for meat. Confined to a wire cage, never knowing kindness or comfort, Larry had every reason to fear the world. But he didn’t give up.
Thanks to the tireless work of ARK Korea and international donors, Larry was saved and spent around 8 months in a loving foster home in Korea, where he lived alongside other dogs and began to heal. There, he learned what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.
Now in the UK, Larry is continuing to thrive and is more than ready to find his forever home.
He’s a confident, affectionate dog who greets everyone like an old friend. He walks beautifully on the lead, loves his outings, and even shares his food, a true gentleman!
Personality & Home Life
Larry is:
- Friendly and social with other dogs, especially females
- Curious but gentle around cats – he’s been introduced and showed no prey drive
- Fully house trained and can use pads if needed
- Medium energy – loves walks but happy to snooze after
- Travels well in a crate or car (just needs a little lift to hop in!)
- Not destructive, not reactive, not a barker, just a sweet-natured boy
He’s a clever, eager-to-please dog who loves learning tricks and bonding with his humans. He may be a bit shy at first in new surroundings but warms up quickly with a little time and kindness.
Why He Was Returned
Larry was breifly adopted and described as “wonderful.” Sadly, a comment from an outsider, wrongly suggesting the dogs looked like a banned breed and caused the adopter to lose confidence and return them.
This was incredibly unfair. Larry is a Jindo x Shepherd mix, and he passed all UK import checks with no issues. He has passed all DEFRA-import requirements, including veterinary clearance and microchipping. He does not resemble a not resemble a Japanese Tosa or any other banned breed, and would never have been allowed into the UK if there were any concerns. He is legal, and above all — loving.
What Larry Needs
Larry can be rehomed on his own or with another kind dog. He would thrive in a home where he gets regular walks, continued affection, and a comfy place to rest. A doggy sibling would be a bonus or a kind, devoted adopter who will shower him with the love he’s waited so long for.
Please Consider Larry
Larry has overcome more than most dogs ever will. And yet, he still chooses to trust. He is gentle, joyful, and so deserving of a happy ending this time, one that truly lasts.
