Venty has come to us from a breeder and is a true little heartbreaker. This sweet boy arrived very frightened of the world around him and unsure how to cope with all the changes. The world still feels like a big and sometimes scary place, but with time and patience he has already made steady progress and is starting to show us just how brave he can be.

When Venty first arrived, he was too scared to even eat for the first week. Now, after a couple of months of being here with us, he is much more comfortable in the presence of people, often relaxing nearby and sometimes taking tasty treats from a hand when he’s feeling extra brave. He even jumps up on his kennel mummy's legs when he is excited for his dinner! He isn’t yet ready to ask for fuss, and human hands are still one of his biggest fears, but he is learning to accept gentle handling in small steps. His kennel mummy has introduced him to the grooming room for the first time, and although he as scared, he was a very brave boy. This will take time, and his adopters will need to be patient, with no expectations, letting him build trust slowly at his own pace.

Venty will need a calm, adult-only home with adopters who understand the needs of nervous ex-breeding dogs. A kind and confident resident dog is essential, as he relies on canine company to help him feel safe and guide him in new situations. As he has never lived in a home before, he will need help learning all the basics, from house training to walking on a lead – and gentle introductions to the sounds and routines of family life.

Although Venty is young, he will be a long-term project dog. He may never be the most confident or affectionate boy, and he may always carry some of his worries with him. But with time, love, and gentle encouragement, his personality will continue to shine through. The bond you build with him will be incredibly rewarding, and he truly deserves a chance to know what love feels like.
