Parrot
Parrot is a beautiful, sensitive boy who came to us from a breeder and is now ready to find a forever home full of love, patience, and understanding. When he first arrived, Parrot was extremely shut down and overwhelmed by the world around him. But with time, gentle care, and consistent reassurance, he’s begun to show us just how much potential he has to grow.
Parrot is still a nervous lad at heart, but he’s made some truly heartwarming progress. He now actively seeks out affection and will quietly sit at your feet, patiently waiting for some gentle head scratches. His sweet nature shines through in these quiet moments, and it’s clear he wants to trust, he just needs a little help getting there.
On walks, Parrot continues to be cautious, though he walks beautifully on a lead. Loud or unfamiliar environments can still overwhelm him, and when that happens, he may lie down and look for comfort. With a bit of reassurance (and the occasional cuddle), he’s learning that the world isn’t so scary after all. He’s not your typical high-energy collie, he’s more reserved and observant, but we believe in the right home, his playful side will start to come through.
Parrot absolutely loves treats and is slowly gaining the confidence to take them more freely. He also shares his space and mealtimes well with his kennel-mates, showing his gentle, cooperative nature.
He’ll need a calm, adult-only home, ideally with someone who has experience with nervous dogs. Most importantly, he’ll need and benefit from a kind and steady resident dog to help him adjust and show him the ropes of home life. He’s also shown he can live alongside a calm, dog-savvy cat.
As Parrot has never lived in a home before, he’ll need support with house training, routines, and settling into a new lifestyle. But with time and kindness, he’ll make a truly loyal and loving companion.
Parrot’s journey is already well underway, he just needs the right person to help him continue blossoming. Parrot has slightly abducted hind limbs, noted by our vets, but this causes him no issues at present.
