20-07-25 Gwen has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a calm and loving forever home where she can begin to understand what it means to be truly loved.

When she first arrived, she was quite worried and overwhelmed, but she has started to come out of her shell each day and is now even approaching us for fuss and attention and will look up at you with the most loving eyes. In fact, she is loving attention so much that she has started to get quite jealous of sharing attention with the other dogs in her kennel. For this reason, we think that she would quite like to be homed as an only dog in her new home as long as her adopters were around most of the time and had plenty of time to spend with her. Experience with nervous ex-breeding dogs would be a plus too. In the right circumstances she could still share her home with another dog, but her adopters would need to be confident with managing the situation if she did start to show signs of jealousy. She does get along well with other dogs though and loves to snuggle with them in bed. She has been tested with cats, and doesn't mind them. We would consider homing her with dog-savvy cats who don't mind sharing their space.

As Gwen has never lived in a home before, everything will be very new to her. Her adopters will need to help her gently learn important life skills like house training and walking on a lead. Once she is feeling braver, she’ll need to practice wearing a lead and harness around the garden until she gains confidence to venture outside. With kindness, patience, and love, Gwen will begin to blossom and discover the joys of home life.

If you feel you can offer Gwen the quiet, understanding home she so deserves then please don't leave her waiting. Gwen is ready to start her journey, she just needs someone to walk it with her.

Gwen has a grade 2-3 heart murmur, she isn't on any medication for this but it is something her adopters and their vet will need to monitor going forwards. She has been spayed with us and did have a slightly more complicated spay than usual, where her uterus was attached to her pancreas, this has been detached and she has recovered well. She may not have any issues following this, but it will be important to monitor her for any signs of pancreatitis in the future. Her adopters would need to be aware that any heart or pancreas related illnesses would not be coverable by insurance.

She has a travel document.
