Clyde
Clyde is a very sweet and gentle boy who loves attention and adores being by your side. He originally came to us from a breeder and went straight into foster care. Clyde was briefly adopted, but some behaviours emerged in his new home that weren’t seen in foster, so he has returned to us to find a home better suited to his needs. He is now back in foster with a member of staff and is doing incredibly well.
Clyde can display some challenging behaviours, including lunging at visitors or smaller dogs, although no contact has ever been made, and he is easily redirected with treats. Because of this, he is looking for a calm, quiet, adult-only home with very few visitors and no visiting children. He will need experienced adopters who are confident, calm, and familiar with his breed or similar breeds, and who understand positive, reward-based training methods.
Clyde can live as an only dog, but he could also share his home with other dogs that are the same size. He has met cats at the rescue without issue, but for his safety and comfort, a home without cats or small furries would be ideal. He walks well on a lead, though he will need to be kept on a lead except in secure, private areas, and we recommend introducing him to wearing a muzzle for walks to keep him and others safe. Clyde will thrive in a home where he gets plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation.
He may not have lived in a home before, but he is mostly house-trained in foster and will just need reminders as he settles into his new family. Clyde arrived with slightly gunky eyes and dirty ears, which have now been treated, and our vets have noted some tension in his knees from lack of exercise, which should improve with gentle activity.
Clyde is a truly lovable boy – once he bonds with you, he just wants to be by your side. He enjoys cuddles, loves to play, and is a real joy to spend time with. He has a travel document and is ready to find the right home where he can feel safe, loved, and flourish.
