Oreo is one of several dogs rescued from a home in heartbreaking conditions, where an elderly owner, struggling with mental health, had become overwhelmed. While she was never intentionally mistreated, Oreo went without the care, comfort, and love she deserved. Now, finally safe, she is beginning to experience the warmth and stability she has always needed.

This little lady has stolen our hearts. Despite everything she’s endured, Oreo remains gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet charm. She is now in a foster home and has discovered the joy of snuggling on a sofa, basking in the sun, and being near her foster canine companions. She follows them outside to the garden and is learning to trust the world one small step at a time. Watching her gain confidence has been nothing short of miraculous, this once nervous, uncertain little girl is slowly blossoming into a content and happy companion.

Oreo will need a patient, loving home with small, gentle female dogs to guide her and help her feel safe. She isn’t keen on large dogs, and due to her health and age she hasn’t been spayed, meaning her new family must ensure she does not mix with unneutered males. Her journey has been fragile, but she is resilient, she eats well, loves treats, sleeps through the night peacefully, and is even beginning to walk on a lead.

She has had some health challenges: sore, itchy skin, fur loss, scabby lesions, sore ears, and the loss of several teeth, but with careful care and attention, she is thriving and showing the personality that makes her so lovable. She is developing cataracts and has a slightly wobbly gait, but none of this dims her gentle spirit or her capacity for love.

Oreo deserves a retirement home filled with warmth, understanding, and endless TLC. She is a little lady with long Shih Tzu legs and a heart full of gratitude, ready to enjoy her second chance at life. Her story is one of resilience, hope, and the promise that even after hardship, love can heal and transform.

If you can open your heart and home to Oreo, she will give you a lifetime of companionship, quiet affection, and the softest love imaginable. This sweet girl has waited long enough, it’s time for her happily ever after.
