  • Human family requirements

I need a calm home with no children to help me get used to home life.

  • Other pet requirements

I need a doggy friend in my new home. But no cats!

  • House and garden requirements

I’m still shy, so I will need a secure garden while I get used to my new home.

  • Out and about requirements

I’d enjoy one or two quiet walks a day and plenty of play time.

  • Training needs

I'm doing well with house training and lead walking in my foster home.

  • Medical issues

I am underweight and would benefit from good nutrition (and lots of treats!)

Ophelia originally came to us from very sad circumstances, alongside several other dogs, when their elderly owner became overwhelmed and the home had fallen into heartbreaking conditions. Though she had never been intentionally mistreated, Ophelia had gone without proper care for a long time. She arrived underweight, missing patches of fur, and unsure of the world beyond her kennel.

At first, Ophelia was shy and sensitive, leaning on her kennel friends for reassurance and waiting for them to take the lead before stepping forward herself. But with patience, gentle encouragement, and plenty of cuddles, she has slowly begun to blossom.

Ophelia now walks beautifully on the lead, adores fuss and cuddles, and her sweet, calm nature makes her a joy to be around. She has gained so much confidence and is ready to share her love with a forever family who will continue to give her the safety and reassurance she needs.

She will need a calm, patient home where life moves gently, and a kind, confident resident dog to help guide her as she settles into family life. She could also live with older, dog-savvy children who understand that sometimes she needs space. While she has made wonderful progress in a home, she may need reminding with house training and adjusting to household routines when in a new home. Ophelia will need a home with no cats or small furries as she is a bit too interested in them.

Ophelia has had 10 teeth removed, as well as a 2 fatty lumps removed at the time of her spay. She has recently undergone another procedure to remove another fatty lump on the left side and is has been treated for sore and mucky ears. Blood tests have also shown that she has some kidney damage, most likely caused by a previous infection. There is no live infection now, but she will need a supportive lifestyle to help protect her kidneys and keep her well in the future.

Ophelia has already shown just how far she can come with love and patience. She deserves a home where she can feel completely safe, be lavished with affection, and blossom into the loyal, gentle companion she truly is. Whoever is lucky enough to welcome Ophelia will gain a dog with a heart as big as her beautiful Newfoundland spirit.
