Onyx is one of several dogs rescued from a home in heartbreaking conditions. Their elderly owner, struggling with mental health issues, was overwhelmed, and the home had become dirty and unmanageable. Though not intentionally mistreated, the dogs went without proper care. Now safe with us, they're finally experiencing love and stability.

Onyx has recently moved into a foster home where she is settling in incredibly well. She adores human attention and loves meeting new people and dogs. She's very friendly with children, but would be best suited to a quiet home and so may prefer visiting children to resident children in her new home.

Onyx is a quiet girl and her ideal home would be one with a calm, senior resident dog and a comfy sofa to spread out on for a snooze. She would love another kind resident dog in her new home but in the right circumstances and in an experience home, may be able to homed as an only dog.

Although Onyx can walk on a lead, she tends to prefer something short and sweet like a field where she can have a potter for 20 minutes then go back home. If she's not 'in the mood' then she will just lay down! She doesn't really see the point in road walks.

Onyx had never lived in a home before moving to her foster home, so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she learns all about home life and new skills like house training.

Onyx arrived in poor physical condition and has made remarkable progress. She has cauliflower ear and polyps in her ears, which require weekly cleaning. Her teeth are very worn, with some missing and five extracted during her care. She has had two mammary lumps removed at the time of her spay. Her skin was sore and dry but is now looking much healthier, and she is steadily gaining weight thanks to small, frequent meals packed with nutrients.

This special girl is full of love, patience, and potential – a truly endearing companion who is ready to find a calm, safe, and loving home where she can finally feel cherished and part of a family. Onyx is a dog you cannot help but fall in love with; she deserves a life filled with the warmth, safety, and affection she has always longed for.
