Oasis
Oasis is a beautiful St Bernard who came to us with several other dogs from a home where their elderly owner, struggling with mental health, had sadly become overwhelmed. Although never deliberately mistreated, the dogs were living in heartbreaking conditions and went without proper care. Now safe with us, Oasis is experiencing love and stability for the very first time.
Oasis is a sweet and confident girl who takes just a little time to warm up, but once she trusts you, she is wonderfully affectionate and loves to give big kisses. She is calm and friendly, rarely barks, and is a joy to spend time with. She gets along brilliantly with her kennel friends and could live with a kind resident dog, or she could be homed as an only dog.
She walks beautifully by your side on the lead, though she can be strong if she decides something deserves an important sniff! Oasis enjoys gentle strolls and, with her calm nature, will make a lovely walking companion. She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be patient while she learns new skills such as house training. Because of her size, a very secure garden with high fences is essential.
Oasis arrived underweight and poorly but is making great progress. She has already gained 4kg, though she still has a little way to go. She has had a dental (with 1 tooth removed), two mammary lumps removed, and entropion surgery on both eyes. Currently, due to the previous entropion surgery she has conjunctivitis in both eyes and is receiving treatment. She also has mild opacity on the surface of the right cornea and her ears are being cleaned regularly to keep them healthy. Oasis loves nylabones and will happily settle down with one. She may give a little growl if another dog shows interest, but this is easily managed by giving her a separate space to enjoy her chew.
This superstar St Bernard is a proper darling; she is calm, loving, and gentle. She will thrive in a kind and understanding home with the support of a doggy companion. In return, Oasis will be the most devoted and affectionate friend, ready to claim her spot on your sofa and in your heart.
