Otaya’s story is one of quiet resilience and gentle grace. She came to us alongside several other dogs rescued from heartbreaking conditions. Their elderly owner, sadly struggling with their mental health, had become overwhelmed and unable to provide proper care. Though never intentionally mistreated, these dogs went without love and attention for far too long. Now safe with us, Otaya is finally learning what it means to be cherished.

When she first arrived, Otaya was in poor condition and had to be shaved, but even then, her beauty shone through, that soft sparkle in her eye and her calm, kind spirit captured all our hearts. Her coat is growing back beautifully now, and it won’t be long before she looks as stunning on the outside as she is within.

Listed on her microchip as a Cambrian Shepherd (a Welsh Sheepdog and Pyrenean Mountain Dog cross), Otaya is a large, gentle lady with a huge heart to match her size. At around 10 years old, she’s a mature girl who moves through life at a peaceful pace, happy just to be near those she trusts.

Otaya can be shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she’ll quietly come over to sit beside you and lean in for a chin scratch or cuddle. Her sweetness shines in every moment. She walks beautifully on the lead, especially when another dog walks with her, though she can still become a little nervous when alone or in new surroundings. With gentle reassurance, she soon regains her confidence.

She currently shares her kennel with another female dog and has also lived happily alongside dogs of different sizes and temperaments, she gets along with everyone. She really depends on her doggy friends for comfort and would truly thrive in a home with another kind, calm resident dog to help her feel secure.

In the yard, Otaya loves to watch the world go by, sometimes breaking into quiet play with her friends when she thinks no one is watching. She’s calm, tender, and has the softest soul. Her gentle nature means she could live with older, dog-savvy children who will give her space and kindness as she continues to blossom.

Otaya has had several medical issues treated since arriving with us, including a mammary lump and fatty lump removal, a wart on her muzzle, and a previously drained hematoma on her elbow. She’s been such a patient, brave girl through it all and continues to be monitored by our vets.

After everything she’s endured, Otaya has shown nothing but love, patience, and quiet strength. She deserves to spend her golden years in a calm, loving home — one with a loyal doggy companion and humans who will shower her with the love she has waited a lifetime for.

Please don’t let this beautiful, gentle soul wait any longer for her forever home.
