Oaklyn is one of several dogs rescued from a home in heartbreaking conditions. Their elderly owner, struggling with mental health issues, was overwhelmed, and the home had become dirty and unmanageable. Though not intentionally mistreated, the dogs went without proper care. Now safe with us, they're finally experiencing love and stability.

Oaklyn is a beautiful, large girl who is already proving to be very friendly and such a sweetheart. Oaklyn could go as the only dog in the right home where her family are around most of the time, as she can be pretty confident when she knows you, and she does go out for walks with volunteers on her own and behaves very well. She could also be homed with either a male or female dog who can match her playful energy

Oaklyn will need a calm and quiet, adult-only home where she can settle in at her own pace. Now that Oaklyn is starting to find her feet and becoming more and more confident when entering her kennel first thing, she gets super excited and can become a little mouthy. This is more of a playful mouthy though, and with a stern ‘no’ she does stop. Because of this, it would be in her best interest to be homed with adults only, with her being a big girl too, she can jump up for affection.

She has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be kind, patient, and understanding as she learns about home life and new skills like house training. Oaklyn has come on leaps and bounds since first arriving, and she’s doing very well. Oaklyn now walks lovely on lead, but does get quite excited to be out and about, so initially she can be bouncy and slightly strong, but does calm down once she gets going. Due to her size, we will be looking for a very secure garden, with high fences.

She was pretty skinny when she first arrived, and we’ve put her on a special diet where she’s putting the weight on lovely. She is a big foodie, so we think this is going to be the way to win her heart and help with her training. She is a very gentle girl, and we think that in a loving home, she is going to truly thrive.
