Maddy
Maddy is a beautiful girl who has come to us from a breeder. She arrived here with a docked tail and her life has not been a loving one. Because of this, she was extremely nervous around people. When anyone approached, she hid away and although we could gently handle her, she shut down completely when we did so. She has made improvements since being here however so we do hope to see continuous progress.
Maddy will need a calm, adult-only home with people who have experience of very scared dogs and understand that progress will be slow and must be done at her own pace.
Maddy finds any human interaction overwhelming, so her forever home must be with someone who has the time and patience to help her. There must be at least one confident, kind resident dog in the home, and they would need to be her size or larger.
She’ll need to learn how to live in a home, as she has never been inside one before, and has no idea what love feels like, and will need to learn all about home life and house training. She may find the garden just as terrifying as the house at first, so a secure garden is absolutely essential.
Maddy has started walking on a lead here, and she has a mixture of feelings about it. She can have moments of pure joy, but then quickly sit down and lose confidence. This is something her adopters will need to work on slowly, first in the garden and only progressing to quiet outdoor spaces once trust has been built. A double lead and harness setup will be vital for her safety.
Maddy has had an umbilical hernia repaired at the time of her spay.
