Dancer
Dancer came to us from a breeder and was initially a very frightened girl who found the world to be a big and scary place. When she first arrived, she didn’t know that people could be kind or that gentle hands could bring love and comfort. Over time, and with lots of love and care, Dancer has started to show her brave side and take those first important steps towards trusting humans.
She is slowly finding her feet and gaining confidence. She now enjoys going on little “sniffy walks” with her canine friends and recently attended a beagle meet, which really helped her come out of her shell. She also travels beautifully in the car. She can still be wary of people’s intentions and doesn’t enjoy being picked up or touched on her sides or legs and can bark at you if you do this. Once she knows you, she will sit beside you and ask for fuss and will even roll over for a belly rub..
Dancer has started to show flashes of her playful personality too, she sometimes tries to encourage her dog friends to play and has been known to cheekily pinch a slipper or two if given the chance! These little moments of mischief are lovely signs of her growing trust and confidence.
She will need a calm, patient, adult-only home with adopters who have experience with scared dogs and can give her the time and understanding she needs to continue blossoming. Dancer must have at least one kind and confident resident dog to help her feel safe and show her the ropes, though she would also be very happy in a home with a small group of gentle canine companions.
This lovely girl has already come such a long way from the scared little soul who first arrived. With love, patience, and a family willing to go at her pace, Dancer will continue to grow in confidence and one day become the happy, playful companion she’s always wanted to be.
Dancer has recently been seen by a specialist vet as she was showing some signs of pain and lameness in her left hind leg and it is felt that she may have injured her cruciate ligament. At the moment, his advice was to just monitor her, but it's possible she may need further treatment in the future, which would not be covered by insurance.
