Ora
Ora’s journey has been a challenging one, but his spirit remains bright and loving. He was rescued from a home in heartbreaking conditions, where his elderly owner, struggling with mental health challenges, could no longer provide proper care. Though never intentionally mistreated, Ora and his companions went without the attention, socialisation, and care they deserved. Now safe with us, Ora is finally experiencing the love, stability, and security every dog deserves.
This handsome, large retriever-sized boy, possibly a Newfoundland cross with Welsh Sheepdog, has blossomed in his time at the rescue. He is friendly, gentle, and affectionate, enjoying fuss and attention and clearly ready to be someone’s very special companion. Ora has made great progress on his walks, initially a little unsure on a solo stroll, he quickly settled into exploring and sniffing around, gaining confidence step by step. With patient encouragement, he could thrive as an only dog in the right home, or with a kind and confident resident dog to share his life with.
Ora has discovered he prefers not to be kennelled with other male dogs, though he is perfectly happy meeting them out and about. He calmly walks past reactive dogs and ignores cats completely. Polite and friendly with strangers, he is a truly lovely, well-mannered boy whose gentle nature shines through.
Having never lived in a home before, Ora will need patient adopters to help him adjust to family life, learn house training, and discover the joys of daily routines. Due to his size, a secure garden with high fences is essential. He is active and intelligent, and will thrive in a home where he can enjoy plenty of walks, adventures, and mental stimulation.
Ora arrived underweight and in need of careful care, and is steadily regaining his strength with small, frequent meals. He is a majestic, handsome boy with so much love to give, and in the right home, he is sure to flourish. This gentle giant is waiting for a calm, patient, and loving family to finally offer him the life he has been dreaming of.
