  • Human family requirements

I need an adult-only home where I can feel safe and loved.

  • Other pet requirements

I need to live with another dog and I can live with cats

  • House and garden requirements

I’m still shy, so I will need a secure garden while I get used to my new home.

  • Out and about requirements

I haven't tried walks just yet but we can definitely work on it once I'm settled in.

  • Training needs

I’ve never lived in a home, so I need to learn housetraining and lead walking

  • Medical issues

I have a luxating patella and some alopecia behind my ears

05-08-25 Darby is a shy and nervous little Westie who has come to us from a breeder, now looking for a new start. At the moment, Darby prefers to stay tucked away at the back of her kennel, watching the world with cautious eyes. But with the quiet reassurance of the other dogs around her, she begins to feel safe enough to come forward and settle into our arms for some gentle fuss.

To help her continue building her confidence, Darby will need a resident dog in her new home. A friendly, patient canine companion will play a vital role in showing her the ropes from lead walking to toilet training and, most importantly, teaching her that life can be full of love, safety, and companionship.

Darby would thrive in an adult-only home where her adopters can offer her the calm, quiet space she needs to settle in at her own pace. She’ll need time, patience, and gentle encouragement as she adjusts to home life, but we’re confident she has so much potential just waiting to bloom.

Our vets have noted that Darby has a little alopecia behind her ears, and she also has a low-grade luxating patella on her right leg. These aren’t causing her discomfort at the moment, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on her and her adopters will need to be aware of this for any potential future treatment that may not be covered by insurance.

Darby has been a joy with all the dogs she’s met here so far. In the right home, with love and understanding, Darby will no doubt become a wonderful, loyal companion.
