Abbey
06-08-25 Abbey is a super sweet Cavalier who has come to us from her breeder in search of a fresh start. She’s always happy to receive a bit of fuss, and we often find her curled up on the laps of our lovely volunteers who spend time with the dogs to support their socialisation.
We believe Abbey would truly thrive with another dog in the home who can offer her the support and reassurance she needs as she adjusts to her new life.
As Abbey has never lived in a home before, she’ll need to learn about housetraining, lead walking, and all the other basics of home life. With patience and guidance, she’ll soon find her feet.
We think Abbey would be fine living with older, gentle children who can give her the space and calm environment she needs to settle in. The transition to home life can be overwhelming, so it’s important she’s given time to adjust at her own pace.
Abbey is currently on a course of ear cleaner to help her feel more comfortable and will also need a dental, which our vets will carry out.
She’s a very cuddly girl at heart and wants nothing more than to be curled up beside you.
Abbey has had 9 teeth out at the time of spay, so will benefit from a soft food diet going forwards. She has some corneal scarring, conjunctivitis, and dry eye, which will require lifelong lubrication and prescribed eye drops. This has caused her some limited vision, but she copes very well and still enjoys exploring her surroundings. Her new family will need to be committed to her ongoing eye care, which will help keep her comfortable and happy. She also arrived with dermatitis and fur loss on her tail and thigh and is receiving medicated baths. Our vets noted that she is slightly cow-hocked, but this does not cause her any problems.
