Dec is a gentle little soul who came to us from a breeder, carrying with her the weight of a past that has asked far too much of her. Understandably, she arrived feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, but even in those first days it was clear that she was a kind and tender girl, longing for a safe place to finally rest and be loved.

Now, with time and patience, Dec is beginning to show us the brave heart that lies beneath her worries. She has the sweetest waggy little tail, and once she finds herself in your arms or curled up on the sofa beside you, she leans into the comfort of a gentle fuss and an ear scratch. She is still a nervous girl, trying so very hard to be brave, but already we can see a cheeky little spark beginning to shine through, a glimpse of the joyful companion she is destined to become.

Having never known life inside a home before, every day brings something new for Dec to learn. She has been remarkably clean indoors, with only the odd accident overnight, and she’s making steady progress as she adjusts to this strange but wonderful new world. She will need patient guidance as she continues to learn about house training, lead walking, and all the sights and sounds of family life.

Dec takes enormous comfort in the company of other dogs and will need a kind, confident resident dog in her new home to help guide her and be her anchor as she builds confidence. She would be happiest in a calm and quiet home without young children, though she could live with gentle, understanding older teens who can respect her need for space.

Health-wise, Dec has had two small mammary lumps and a mammary gland removed, but she has recovered well and continues to do beautifully.
