  • Human family requirements

I need a quiet home where I won’t be overwhelmed while I settle in at my own pace.

  • Other pet requirements

I need a doggy friend in my new home. I've never met cats so I'm unsure!

  • House and garden requirements

I’m frightened and will need a secure garden to learn about being outside.

  • Out and about requirements

Walks are too scary for me yet, maybe some slow garden sniffs will be a good start.

  • Training needs

I need to learn house training, lead walking, and other basics of home life.

  • Medical issues

    Please read my information below.

Drifter is a sweet but very timid Bichon who has come to us from a breeder in Ireland in search of a fresh start. At the moment, she is quite nervous and not confident enough to approach people on her own. Handling can be a little tense for her, so she has a journey ahead to build her confidence and become the happy, affectionate companion we know she can be.

Drifter would really benefit from a home with another calm and confident dog. A resident dog would act as a much-needed support system, helping her settle into her new environment, providing comfort, and showing her the ropes as she learns about home life. She thrives on canine company and draws courage from her four-legged friends. In her foster home, she loves the other dogs and has settled in well with them all. She’s been good at sharing food, toys, and beds.

She will need patient, understanding adopters who can dedicate time to helping her feel secure, loved, and gradually more confident. A calm and quiet home environment will be ideal for her as she adjusts.

Drifter is a beginner on the lead and will hopefully soon learn that she can have fun on walks like the other dogs, but for now, she enjoys a wander in the garden and a little play with her friends. She is learning house training, and so some patience is required as she learns how to live in a home.

Drifter has been assessed by our vets, who noted that she has developing bilateral cataracts, which will need to be monitored by her new adopters and their vet. She also has an overbite, and has had a dental, where unfortunately most teeth needed to be removed, and she now only has 4 remaining. She will benefit from a soft food diet moving forward. In addition to this, Drifter has had a large mammary lump removed, along with several smaller ones and one teat, and she is now recovering well. Her adopters would need to be aware that these would now all be classed as pre-existing conditions and so would not be covered by insurance.

Once Drifter feels safe and settled, we believe she has the potential to blossom into a loyal, affectionate, and delightful companion. She may take a little time to come out of her shell, but with gentle guidance, she will reward her new family with unwavering love and devotion.
