  • Human family requirements

I need a calm and quiet, adult only home where I can settle in at my own pace.

  • Other pet requirements

I will need a kind resident dog to take me under their wing. I have never met cats.

  • House and garden requirements

I would like a secure garden to spend time in.

  • Out and about requirements

I can now walk well on the lead with a little reassurance.

  • Training needs

I have lived in a home before so might know the basics, but may need reminding.

  • Medical issues

I am spayed and ready to find my forever home.

07-03-26 Betty originally came to us from a breeder to find her forever home. She is a very scared little girl who is finding the world quite overwhelming and will need a patient and understanding home where she can take things at her own pace. Betty has sadly been adopted and returned twice and we feel she now needs a very specific home that can truly meet her needs and help her feel safe.

Betty can be worried around new people and situations. In her first home she formed a close bond with the lady of the house but remained frightened of the husband and would bark at him. Her second home was with a single lady, but as she was adopted as an only dog she struggled to come out of her shell and settle in. On both occasions she was returned as the adopters felt it wasn't the right home for her and it wasn't through any fault of her own.

Betty will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult-only home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and understand the time, patience and kindness needed to help dogs like her flourish.

Although Betty does love her independence, she also relies on the comfort and reassurance of other dogs to help her feel safe. She enjoys playing with them and gains confidence from them, so she will need a home with at least one confident resident dog, although ideally a home with a few friendly dogs would suit her best.

Once Betty learns to trust you she is a very affectionate little girl who enjoys human attention and loves a cuddle. However, this bond will take time to build and her adopters will need to be patient while she settles and begins to feel safe. Once she has decided that you are her person, she can be a little pushy with demanding affection.

Betty can be nervous when visitors come to the home and may bark when she feels unsure, so she will need understanding adopters who are prepared to manage this while she continues to build her confidence. Although she has lived in a home, she had never been inside a home before being rescued, so her adopters will need to be kind and patient as she settles in and understand she may still need to learn all about things like house training. She is also new to lead walking and will need gentle guidance as she learns about the world outside and gains confidence with walking in new areas.

Betty is a very sweet girl and in the right home, with plenty of canine companionship and lots of reassurance, we believe she will slowly learn that the world is not such a scary place and will become a very loving and loyal companion.

Betty has a travel document.
