Ember
Ember came to us from a breeder and is now ready to find her forever home. She is a gentle little girl who has made wonderful progress in her foster home over the past seven weeks. Ember has settled beautifully with the other dogs in the household, enjoys playing with them, and loves her toys, their company gives her comfort and confidence as she learns to trust the world.
Humans are still a big challenge for Ember. She remains very fearful of being picked up or touched, and while she has improved, she still shakes when in someone’s arms. Ember needs adopters who understand that building her trust with people will take time, patience, and consistent kindness. She is happy to come close when spoken to gently, as long as hands are kept out of sight, and she responds to her name and comes when called.
Ember is also making progress with lead training and enjoys walks, though she can still be startled by noises, unfamiliar dogs, or people. She recently had a groom, which was understandably stressful, but with patience she managed her body grooming, and she looks sweet and cared for.
She has a Grade 2 heart murmur, which does not currently require medication, but will need to be monitored by her adopters and their vet.
Ember will thrive in a calm, quiet home with at least one kind, confident resident dog to guide and reassure her, and with adopters experienced with scared ex-breeding dogs who can let her settle at her own pace. While she still has a long journey ahead in learning to trust humans fully, with love, patience, and gentle encouragement, Ember will blossom into a happy, waggy-tailed companion who knows what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for.
Ember has a travel document.
