  • Out and about requirements

I'm still getting used to my new life so a secure garden for me to explore is ideal.

  • Training needs

Please be patient with me, I'm nervous and learning everything from scratch.

  • Medical issues

I have some hormonal alopecia, but this should grow back with time.

Hale is a gentle, soulful little lady who originally has come to us from a breeder, and was adopted for a short period of time but has been returned as the home was not the right fit for her. She has shown to be a bit vocal when she is unsure of her surroundings and new noises, but she has an enormous heart that is slowly learning to trust and open up.

When Hale first came to us, she was a very worried and quiet girl who seemed to have very little formal handling, and was unsure of us humans and our intentions. She would hide away under blankets and make herself as small as possible and will need adult-only, experienced adopters who can understand her needs. She was rehomed for two months but was returned to foster when her adopters were unable to cope with her barking. Hale can bark when startled, when she hears noises outside, when the doorbell rings, and when she is excited for her meals. She can also be wary of new people in the home, but she does settle down with time.

Since returning to foster, Hale has made significant progress. She is doing well with lead walking and is much more confident when she can follow one of her foster doggy friends. Hale enjoys spending time with her foster parents and accepts fuss, though she is not yet at the point of actively seeking affection. She eats well but can wolf her food down quickly, so a slow feeder may be beneficial, and she is still learning to be gentle when taking treats.

Hale sleeps in her foster home's bedroom with her doggy friends and foster mum and has settled very well. She would benefit from a home that allows her to continue sleeping in the same room if she chooses. Hale is a vocal girl and will need a quiet, patient home with routine to continue building her confidence. She adores the company of other dogs and gains reassurance from their calm, confident presence.

With lots of patience, understanding, and love, Hale is really coming out of her shell. She is enjoying her food, playtime, and quiet moments of affection, and continues to develop her confidence each day. Hale will thrive in a supportive home, and will need another gentle dog to guide her, and will make a wonderful addition for a family willing to celebrate her small but meaningful steps forward.

Hale’s journey shows her resilience and courage, and she is ready to continue learning what it feels like to feel safe, loved, and secure in her forever home.
