Maya
Maya is a precious little girl whose gentle soul has known so little kindness in her life until now. Coming to us from a breeder, she arrived shy and uncertain, unsure what to make of the world around her, but even in those first quiet moments, it was clear that her heart was full of love, just waiting for the right people to help it shine.
This beautiful girl is still nervous and sometimes worried about people’s intentions, but she’s trying so very hard to be brave. Every day she takes small, courageous steps forward, a wag of her tail, a curious glance, a moment of trust. When she feels safe, she absolutely melts into your arms, finding comfort in a gentle cuddle. She’s easy to handle, though she will often freeze in fear when touched, a reminder of how new all of this is for her. With time, patience, and love, that fear will fade and be replaced with the trust she so desperately wants to give.
Maya sleeps soundly through the night and has been clean in the house, showing what a clever girl she is. She’s not quite ready for lead walking yet, but she’s had some joyful time exploring in a secure field, following the other dogs and taking in all the new sights and smells with quiet curiosity. It’s clear how much she takes comfort from her canine friends, she truly blossoms in their company so her forever home must have a kind, friendly resident dog to help guide her and be her snuggle buddy.
Having never lived in a home before, everything is still very new for Maya, but she is learning every day. She’s beginning to show little glimmers of playfulness, greeting her carer with a softly wagging tail, even if she’s still hesitant to come forward or take treats from a hand just yet. Her progress has been slow, steady, and beautiful to witness.
Maya is as lovely on the inside as she is on the outside, a quiet, gentle spirit who simply needs the right home to help her believe the world can be kind. She would love a calm, understanding household with a secure garden where she can explore safely and build her confidence at her own pace.
Health-wise, Maya has a cataract in her right eye that will need to be monitored, and she has already had several rotten teeth removed at the time of her spay. She has also received treatment for an ear infection.
Maya has known so little of love, but she is ready now, ready to be cherished, to be gently shown what it means to be part of a family, to finally have a place where she belongs. Her forever home will need patience, kindness, and an open heart, but in return, Maya will give something truly special: the quiet, pure love of a little dog who has finally learned that she is safe, wanted, and home.
