Thimble
Thimble is a truly endearing lady who has come a long way since arriving with us from a breeder. She is gentle, thoughtful, and quietly curious, and she has been winning hearts with her sweet nature and soft, affectionate personality.
While initially timid, Thimble loves gentle fuss and is easy to handle. She has a lovely inquisitive side, often coming forward for a gentle sniff, and has shown a surprising spring in her step, even making new friends with excitement. Though she can sometimes be a little bossy with other dogs at first, since being spayed she has calmed down and now enjoys meeting new canine companions. She currently prefers the company of male dogs and we feel it would be best for her to be rehomed with a male dog in her new home. She has met cats at the rescue and doesn't seem too interested so we would consider homing her with a dog-savvy resident cat.
Thimble has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need patience and understanding as she continues to learn about everyday life, house training, new sights and sounds, and navigating home routines. She is a beginner on the harness, but she is coming along so well with continued practice, so she will need lots of practice, gentle encouragement, and praise. She is very observant, loves to sit quietly and watch the world go by, and takes life at her own gentle pace. She needs a kind resident dog in her home she can look to as she settles in. She can also live with older-dog savvy teens who will understand that she may need space as she settles.
This sweet girl has some special needs: she has an inward deflection of her right tibia, which doesn’t seem to bother her, and several teeth were removed at the time of her spay, so she thrives on soft food and treats. She isn’t a fan of her legs being touched, but simply pulls away rather than showing distress. Her fur is rather thin, so she loves a cozy jumper to keep her warm, especially in colder weather. The vets have drained a small cyst on her shoulder and have noticed bilateral patella luxation that does not seem to bother her but may improve with time. She is currently receiving treatment for sore ears and is being monitored by the vet. And her little snaggle tooth is simply irresistible!
Thimble is a soft-hearted, affectionate companion who is ready for a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe, loved, and cherished. With patience, gentle guidance, and lots of love, she will blossom into a devoted, loyal, and happy friend who will bring joy and warmth to her family for years to come.
