Santos
22-10-25 Santos is a wonderfully big-hearted boy who came to us from the pound just in time for a second chance at life, as he was due to be PTS. We’re so grateful he’s here with us now, ready to begin his journey toward the loving forever home he truly deserves.
According to his microchip, Santos is a Cane Corso, but we believe he may be crossed with a Great Dane and his size and gentle, goofy nature certainly seem to fit that mix! He’s a huge puppy at heart, full of fun, curiosity, and affection, and we’re eager to set him up for success.
It seems Santos has lived in a home before, as he already knows some basic commands like sit and paw. He’s very food-motivated, which makes training both easy and enjoyable. Santos would love an active home where he can join in on plenty of adventures. He now walks on a halti and walks like a dream on this and it's important his new owners continue to use a halti as if he did pull he would be incredibly strong.
He’s currently being gently muzzle-trained and not because he’s ever shown any aggression, but simply to help him learn another useful skill and ensure he’s confident and comfortable in all situations. Santos enjoys the company of other dogs, though he can sometimes be a little too enthusiastic in his greetings, especially with females, so any introductions should be calm and positive. He can live with other dogs, pending a successful meet and greet, or be an only in a home with plenty of love and affection.
Santos will thrive in a large-breed–experienced home that can accommodate both his size and energy. As a big, boisterous softie, he’d do best with older, dog-savvy teens who can enjoy his playful nature. Although he may have lived in a home before, he might need a few gentle reminders about house training as he settles in.
Santos has come to us underweight and will need a healthy diet (with lots of treats!) to bring him back to a healthy weight. He also has a possible entropion that has been repaired at the time of his castration.
This big ball of energy and love will bring so much happiness to the lucky family who opens their hearts and home to him.
