30-10-25 Macaroni has come to us from a home and is now looking for her perfect retirement home. This beautiful older girl is full of love and character and really deserves to spend her golden years being cherished and adored.

At the moment, Macaroni is a little on the chubby side and will need a sensible diet to help her shed some of her extra weight. Macaroni has a fatty lump under her chest, which the vets have advised to leave due to her age and the sensitive location near the heart, where it may have complex blood vessels. She also has a lump on the left side of her hip, which appears to be a benign growth, although results were inconclusive. The plan is to schedule surgical removal of the lump on her hip.

Our vets have noted that Macaroni has some lameness of her left hind leg. She was assessed by a specialist vet who thinks that this is likely due to weakened muscles. Her knee is sore when it’s stretched, which suggests she may have injured her cruciate ligament. Right now, it's recommended that it is managed with crate rest as she is already showing improvement, but if it doesn't get better then she may benefit from surgery. It's possible she may require further treatment in the future and her adopters would need to be aware that this would not be covered by insurance.

Macaroni has always been an only dog, so would be happy to be homed as an only dog where she can continue to be the centre of attention and soak up all the love, fuss, and cuddles for herself. She has made some friends here and in the right circumstances could be homed with another calm and kind resident dog and a dog-savvy cat who respects her space. She’s an absolute sweetheart, gentle, affectionate, and confident and we think her new family is going to fall head over heels for her.

As she has lived in a home before, she may already have some house training, though she might need a few reminders as she settles in. She can already walk on a lead and will enjoy going for walks with her new family.

We really hope this gorgeous girl doesn’t have to wait long for her forever home. Whoever adopts Macaroni will be gaining a truly lovely companion who will bring warmth, love, and happiness to their lives.
