I am learning house training in my foster home!

  • Medical issues

I have had 10 teeth extracted and was already missing several.

Cherry came into our care from a breeder and was initially very worried and unsure of her surroundings. She was not confident enough to approach people and would keep her distance, often moving away if she felt uncertain. However, once gently picked up, Cherry would settle and allow handling, showing her gentle nature despite her fears.

Cherry needed a calm, quiet environment with adopters who understand the needs of ex-breeding dogs and are willing to give her the time and patience she requires. As she had never lived in a home before, everything was new to her and she needed support to learn about home life, including house training and learning to walk on a lead. A kind, confident resident dog was identified as essential to help build her confidence, and we would consider her for a home with dog-savvy teenagers.

Cherry has now been in her foster home and has made very good progress. She lives with five resident dogs and gets along well with them all, often taking reassurance from them when she feels unsure. She is settling into home life well, sleeps downstairs through the night, and is housetrained provided she is let out regularly.

She enjoys treats and will now take them gently from a hand. Cherry is walking on a lead and harness, although she can be worried by loud noises, so her adopters will need to continue building her confidence gradually and start with quiet walking areas. In the home, she has found a favourite bed where she can relax while keeping an eye on what’s going on around her.

Cherry is a gentle and sensitive Cavalier who has already shown how much she can adapt when given time and understanding. With a calm home, patient adopters, and the support of a confident canine companion, she will continue to gain confidence and settle into family life.

Cherry arrived with several missing teeth and has since had a further 10 removed while in our care. Her upper incisors were left in place to avoid potential complications. She also has an enlarged mammary gland which has been assessed by our vets and does not require any treatment.

Cherry has a travel document.
