08-11-25 Louis has come to us from a home after his previous owners sadly realised they were unable to provide him with the active, stimulating lifestyle he needs to stay happy and fulfilled. Louis is a bright, energetic boy who thrives on company, adventure, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Unfortunately, being left home alone too often and not getting enough walks and exercise led to some destructive behaviour in the home through boredom. He would rip his bedding and blankets as well as other items, but this behavior should hopefully improve once he’s settled into an active, loving home where his needs are fully met and where his adopters are around most of the time.

Louis will be looking for an active home with adopters who have plenty of time for him and who can keep his mind and body busy. He absolutely loves going on walks and adventures and could run around fields or wooded areas for hours! He can be strong on the lead, so his new family will need to be able to manage this. We are already training him to walk nicely on a halti, which is helping him learn better lead manners.

Louis is confident enough to be homed as an only dog, provided his adopters are around for most of the day, but he’s also great with other dogs and could happily live with a kind, playful resident dog. We’re told he’s fine with cats and has lived with them before, though he hasn’t met any here yet. He has also been around children and could live with older, dog-savvy kids who understand his energy and enthusiasm.

Louis is used to living in a home and is house trained, though he may need a few gentle reminders as he settles into a new routine. He’s a very affectionate boy who absolutely adores human company and cuddles, fuss, and attention make him one very happy lad! He especially loves tummy tickles and is used to sleeping in bed with his humans, so he’ll be hoping for a family who’ll let him keep that special bedtime tradition.

Playtime is another favourite part of Louis’s day, he loves tug of war, interactive toys, and squeaky balls (though he sometimes chews them, so will need a watchful eye!). He also enjoys tearing up cardboard tubes from toilet or kitchen rolls and it’s one of his favourite little games! Louis is very food-motivated and loves his daily Bonio, marrow bones, and any tasty treats that come his way.

One thing to know about Louis is that he’s very frightened of fireworks and will need lots of love, reassurance, and a calm, safe space during these times.

Louis is such a loving, joyful boy who just wants to be part of an active home where he’ll be included in daily life and given the stimulation he craves. With time, patience, and love, he’ll make the most loyal and fun-filled companion and we can’t wait to see him find the happy ending he so deserves.

Louis is a little overweight at the moment but with a good diet and exercise, he should soon shed the excess. His eyes are a little red and inflamed, which our vets will assess, but may be down to stress. He also has a small fatty lump between his shoulder blades, which will be checked out.
