Flora
Flora has come to us from a breeder as a gentle, curious soul who wanted nothing more than friendship, but clearly found confidence hard when she was away from the comfort of other dogs. From the very beginning, it was obvious that Flora is deeply sensitive and tender-hearted, the kind of dog who wears her feelings openly and looks a little sad when the people she loves have to walk away.
As Flora has never lived in a home before she will need to learn all of the basics like, house training, walking on a lead, and the rhythms of everyday life. She needed time, kindness, and reassurance, and above all a calm environment where she could feel safe. She will need a quiet home, with a kind and confident resident dog she can look to that will take her under their wing.
What none of us could have predicted was just how quickly Flora would begin to blossom.
In only a few short weeks, she has made incredible progress and has completely stolen hearts along the way. Each day she grows a little braver, a little more trusting, and a little more sure of herself. These moments feel like small victories, and they hint so clearly at the affectionate, snuggly companion she is becoming.
Flora’s confidence is building not just with people, but with play too. She loves her food and approaches mealtimes with pure joy and gratitude. She is always eager to share lunchtime company and treats. In the yard, she has discovered the fun of chasing tennis balls and toys, and she’s even started bringing them back sometimes, proudly showing off her progress. Watching her learn to play has been one of the most heartwarming parts of her journey so far.
Although harness training is still to come, her growing confidence suggests she will take it in her stride when the time is right. Given how much she has already achieved in such a short time, there’s no doubt that once she’s in a home environment, surrounded by love and consistency, she will truly thrive. We can already picture her curled up on the sofa, soaking up affection and finally feeling like she belongs.
She has a low-grade left patella luxation which will continue to be monitored and may improve with time and gentle exercise. She has also had 12 teeth removed at the time of her spay, and a small swelling on her leg and a fatty lump on her chest that our vets are keeping an eye on but believe there is no action needed at this time.
Flora deserves a future where she feels safe, cherished, and understood. Finding that family would truly be a dream come true for her, and for anyone lucky enough to call Flora their own.
