Twix
07-01-26 Twix is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She come to us from a breeder and was in need of surgery on her leg due to a patella luxation and a limp in her walk. She is recovering well and progressing quickly. She is now ready to begin her journey toward a loving forever home. When she arrived, she was feeling a little unsure in a new environment, but despite her nerves, she would quietly approach you to say hello, showing us the beginnings of the sweet and trusting nature hiding just beneath the surface. Now settled in a little, she is one of the dogs that will sit on your lap all day, every day. She literally melts into you. Once you stop fussing her, she will do flips and twists and get little zoomies on the floor. She can be very energetic, so we are trying to keep her calm so that she can rest her leg.
Twix will need a calm, quiet home where she can settle slowly and without pressure. Twix gets on wonderfully with other dogs, so she would be happy to share her home with another playful dog, but she is confident enough that she would be equally as happy being the only dog in the home too, as long as her adopters were around enough to keep her company.
As she has never lived in a home before, everything will be new to her. Her adopters will need to be patient and understanding as she learns about household noises, daily routines, and important skills such as house training. Twix is a beginner on the harness and is enjoying very slow walks as she is building up strength and putting weight on her leg.
Once she has settled into her new home, Twix would likely enjoy being part of an active home where she can join in gentle adventures and continue to build positive experiences at her own pace. She can be homed with dog-savvy children who understand that they must be careful with her leg and give her space to settle into the home.
Twix arrived with a grade 2 patella luxation on her left side and was showing a slight limp. Our veterinarian performed a block trochleoplasty, and she has made an excellent recovery. Her stitches have been removed, and she is now walking well and running comfortably. Her gait will need to be monitored as her activity levels settle, and further assessment will be required if any pain or lameness develops. As this is a pre-existing condition, it will not be covered by insurance and should continue to be monitored by her adopter’s veterinarian.
Twix has a beautiful, soft soul and so much potential. In the right home, with kindness and support, she will flourish into a loyal, loving companion. Whoever welcomes her into their heart will truly be giving her the second chance she deserves. She is a dream to care for and brings joy to your day
