Peggy Sue
Peggy Sue has made wonderful progress since arriving with us and has really begun to come out of her shell. While she can still be picked up and handled, she is happiest when she is on the floor with her kennel friends, where she feels safest and most relaxed. As she has settled, we have started to see her comical and cheeky side shine through – she is a typical Shih Tzu in many ways, full of sass, playful moments, and a lovely sense of fun that brings a smile to everyone around her.
Although Peggy Sue remains nervous about being touched and handled, she is growing in confidence and enjoying life more each day. She loves her food and toys, and it is a joy to watch her running around the play yard with a ball or toy proudly in her mouth. With time, patience, and gentle reassurance, her confidence around handling should continue to improve.
Peggy Sue is looking for a calm, adult-only home where she will have at least one other kind and confident resident dog. She takes a great deal of comfort from her canine companions and loves to cuddle up with them for reassurance. A friendly, steady dog in her new home will help her feel safe, guide her, and support her as she continues to learn about the world. She will closely watch and copy her canine role model, which will help her learn important new skills such as house training and walking on a lead. Initially, both the home and garden may feel quite daunting, but with love, encouragement, and praise, Peggy Sue will gradually realise there is nothing to fear and will continue to blossom.
Peggy Sue has been spayed and had an inguinal hernia repaired at the time of her procedure. She also has a travel document.
In the right home, with a kind resident dog and patient adopters, she will truly flourish. Her future family will be very lucky to welcome such a funny, endearing little girl into their lives.
