Dakota
Dakota is a gentle Cockapoo who came to us from a breeder looking for a fresh start. When she first arrived, she was understandably unsure and would often freeze when separated from her canine companions. Although she tolerated handling and veterinary checks well, it was clear she drew confidence and comfort from being around other dogs.
Over time, Dakota has made lovely progress and has settled into rescue life far more quickly than we initially expected. Within a few days, her personality began to shine through and she has continued to blossom. She is now a very happy, affectionate little dog who enjoys human company and actively seeks out attention.
Dakota adores a fuss and will happily ask for more when you stop. She enjoys cuddles, including sitting on laps, and clearly thrives on close contact with her people. Despite this new-found confidence, she can still be a little reliant on reassurance, so adopters should be prepared for a dog who enjoys being close and involved in everyday life.
As Dakota has never lived in a home environment before, she will need patient guidance with house training, lead walking, and learning routine. She will need a confident resident dog to take her under their wing and help her settle into her new home.
Dakota could live with sensible older children and has shown herself to be comfortable around cats. She would be best suited to a calm, predictable home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace.
Our vets have noted a small cyst on her chest, which will be drained to keep her comfortable. She also arrived with mildly inflamed ears, which require routine cleaning.
Dakota is a sweet, affectionate dog who has made encouraging progress in a short space of time. With patience, companionship, and a loving home, she will continue to grow into a wonderful family companion.
She has arrived with slightly inflamed ears, which require regular cleaning.
She has a travel document.
