Mable
18-02-26 Mabel is a sweet and gentle girl who originally came to us from a breeder. She was adopted for a short period of time but has since returned to our care, as her previous home felt she would thrive best in a more active environment. She absolutely loves to explore and follow her nose, and would love a home able to provide an outlet for her.
Mabel can initially be a little shy and may retreat if handled too quickly, but with slow, calm, and sensible movements, she will gradually edge her way closer. Once she begins to understand you, she enjoys a gentle face stroke and starts to build a lovely bond based on trust. In her previous home, she made herself right at home and showed just how well she can settle once she feels safe.
She absolutely loves food, which will be a wonderful tool for continuing her training and building confidence. Mabel is very much led by her nose and enjoys exploring the outdoors. She will chase small furries in the garden and tends to keep her nose to the ground, so she will need a secure garden with fencing of at least 5 feet. She would love a home that can offer her plenty of adventures and opportunities to use her natural sniffing instincts.
Mabel takes great comfort in the company of other dogs and will need a kind, confident resident dog in her new home to help her feel safe and settled. She cannot be homed with cats or small furries. As she has not had extensive experience in a home environment, her adopters will need to be patient and supportive as she continues learning about house training and lead walking.
She could live with children who understand the importance of giving her time and space to settle in at her own pace.
Mabel is an amazing girl who is ready to find her forever home. With patience, kindness, and an active lifestyle to match her love of exploring, she is sure to begin a very happy new chapter.
Mable has a Grade 1 heart murmur that does not seem to bother her as well as superficial patches on both corneas that do not seem to be an active problem at this time. However, she should be monitored for any future treatment she may need. She presented to the vets with an infected nail bed, and the nail was removed. The vets have noted a swollen lymph node behind the right knee. This does not appear to be a problem at this time and does not require action but should continue to be monitored in her new home. She has had a check-up since, and it is healing well.
