05-03-26 Roan is a very sweet little puppy who came to us from a breeder, as he was unsold due to having Grade 4 luxating patellas. He has had x-rays which have been reviewed by both our vets and a specialist, and it has been advised that he will need to undergo specialist surgery to help his mobility. Unfortunately, this surgery cannot be carried out at the moment as he is so young and it will need to be done once he is older as soon as his growth plates have fused.

We would love to find adopters who are happy to welcome Roan into their lives as he is now and who would be able to fund his operation when he is old enough. It's estimated that it would cost around £3000+ depending on which specialist you use and would not be covered by insurance as it's a pre-existing condition. It would be wonderful for him to settle into a loving forever home while he is still a puppy, so he can enjoy all the joys of puppyhood and get to know his new family. If he isn’t adopted during this time, we will continue to support him and arrange the surgery under our care once he is old enough.

Roan was a little shy when he first arrived, but he has really started to come out of his shell. He loves fuss and attention and enjoys spending time with people he knows and is continuing to grow in confidence each day. He is confident enough to be homed as an only dog as long as his adopters were around most of the time and had plenty of time to spend with him, but he loves the company of other dogs and so could also be homed with another kind resident dog. We would consider homing him with dog-savvy older children who would be very gentle with him, especially during his recovery period.

As he's just a puppy, Roan will need to learn about home life, including house training and walking on a lead. His adopters must agree to take him him to puppy socialisation classes and to help him grow into a confident, well-rounded adult. Roan’s adopters will also need to agree to have him neutered at the appropriate age, as per the adoption agreement.

This special little boy really deserves to find a loving home as soon as possible, where he can be loved and cherished while he waits for his surgery.
