Rifton
19-02-26 Rifton has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for her very own forever home. She is a sweet little girl, but understandably is feeling quite scared and overwhelmed to find herself here. It is clear that she hasn’t had much socialisation before, so she will need plenty of love, patience and gentle reassurance as she learns that human hands are kind and that there is nothing to fear. With some patience, she will allow a gentle fuss.
Rifton would be best suited to a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience of nervous ex-breeding dogs and understand that progress may be slow but incredibly rewarding. She could be homed with older, dog-savvy teenagers who will respect her need for space and a gentle approach.
She will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help show her the way and give her reassurance as she settles. Having a canine friend will be invaluable in helping her grow in confidence.
As Rifton has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about home life. This includes house training, walking on a lead, and getting used to everyday sights and sounds. With patience, consistency and lots of encouragement, she will get there in her own time.
She has some hormonal alopecia at the moment, but once she is spayed this should grow back with time.
Rifton has been given the Gift of Life by Tracy Davidson
