06-03-26 Lovey originally came to us from a breeder and was adopted into a home for quite some time before sadly being returned to us. She is a worried little lady who is understandably quite confused and has found the transition back into rescue life a little overwhelming. She was handed into a vet to be PTS and luckily they reached out to us to take her back into our care. We were told that Lovey could be vocal in the home and that on one occasion she did nip out of fear when she was overwhelmed, although we are unclear on the exact situation. Since returning to us, however, she has been nothing but timid, gentle and kind with everyone she has met. Due to this, she will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home where she can feel safe and secure.

Lovey is a sweet but sensitive girl who can initially be unsure of new people and may bark when meeting someone unfamiliar, but she tends to settle quite quickly once she realises she is safe. She is a very vocal little lady who likes to tell you how she’s feeling, whether that’s reminding you it’s mealtime, asking for attention, or letting you know she’d quite like to head out for a walk! At times she can be a little grumbly, but we have realised this often just seems to be her way of chatting and expressing herself.

Lovey spent some time in a foster home before returning to the rescue where she lived alongside other dogs. She appeared to get along well with them and enjoys their company, although she isn’t overly reliant on them for comfort and does appreciate having her own space. She will need a calm and kind resident dog in the home who will respect her boundaries and allow her to lean on them as she settles in.

We are told that Lovey didn’t get out on many walks in her previous home, but she has quickly shown us just how much she enjoys getting out and about. She is an absolute dream on the lead and really enjoys gentle strolls where she can take her time and explore all the sights and smells around her.

As she begins to settle, Lovey’s funny and affectionate personality is starting to shine through. She absolutely adores scratches behind her ears and will happily soak up gentle fuss once she trusts you. She was also a little superstar at the groomers and, although a bit worried, behaved perfectly throughout her visit.

Lovey can be a little fussy with her food and may go off her meals if things change around her, so she may do best with small, tasty meals while she settles into her new home. She is particularly fond of chicken and has already started enjoying little meals again after a few days with us.

Lovey is a sweet and sensitive girl who would thrive in a quieter home with patient adopters who will give her the time, understanding and reassurance she needs to feel safe. In return, she will make a wonderfully loyal and characterful companion.
