Victor
18-02-26 Victor is an older Cavalier who has come into our care from a breeder and what a little star he is! He may be a gentleman of advancing years, but he is certainly not over the hill just yet. Victor enjoys a gentle stroll where he can plod along at his own pace, taking in all the interesting sniffs along the way. One steady walk down the road each day will likely be just enough for him. After that, he would be more than content to curl up in a comfy bed for a peaceful snooze. He absolutely adores a fuss and would love nothing more than plenty of cuddles and affection from his people.
Victor is confident enough to be homed as an only dog and we think he would prefer this, so he can get all the fuss and attention himself. He does get along wonderfully with other dogs, but he can be a little enthusiastically humpy at times!
As Victor has never lived in a home before, he will need gentle guidance with house training and the basics of home life. He can already walk on a lead and would enjoy slow, sniffy strolls around the local area once he has settled into his new surroundings.
Victor will need an adopter who understands the needs of an older dog and is committed to giving him his daily medication and ongoing support. He could share his home with older, dog-savvy children aged 9 and over who can appreciate that he will need a calm and quiet introduction to the home, along with his own cosy space to rest undisturbed.
As expected for a gentleman of his years, Victor has arrived with a few medical notes. He has a Grade 2–3 heart murmur which will need to be monitored by his new adopters vets, and a bilateral ear infection, which we are currently treating to help him feel more comfortable. He has one microphthalmic eye and suffers with dry eyes currently, and we believe his vision may be somewhat limited. His skin is currently in poor condition, and he will be receiving medicated baths to support his Dermatitis and Alopecia. Due to his age, his mobility is reduced; he has arthritis in his back legs and a slightly wobbly gait, so he takes life at a slower, steadier pace to keep himself balanced.
As he is an older gentleman and has a pre-existing heart murmur, our vets have decided not to put him through neutering surgery, so any adopters will need to sign a disclaimer to agree that they understand he has not been neutered and must not mingle with any. unspayed female dogs.
Victor is a truly special little soul who deserves a warm, loving retirement home where he can be cherished. In return, he will offer gentle companionship, loyalty, and the sweetest little presence by your side.
