Mattie
05-03-26 Mattie has come to us from a breeder ready to find her forever home. She is a very worried little girl who is understandably overwhelmed to find herself here. At the moment she is unsure of people and will freeze when handled, simply because she does not yet know that she is safe.
Mattie will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace. Adopters with experience of worried ex-breeding dogs would be ideal, as they will understand how important patience and kindness are for girls like Mattie. Slow movements, soft voices and allowing her to come to you in her own time will help her confidence begin to grow. We would consider homing her with dog-savvy teenagers who can respect her sensitive nature.
Mattie finds comfort in the company of other dogs and will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home. A steady canine friend will help guide her, show her the ropes, and reassure her that home life is something to be enjoyed.
As she has never lived in a home before, Mattie’s adopters will need to support her as she learns about house training, walking on a lead, and all the everyday sights and sounds that come with family life. With time, love and plenty of TLC, we believe Mattie will slowly start to blossom, revealing the gentle and sweet little soul we can already see waiting underneath her worries.
Mattie has come to us with a mildly overshot jaw that does not seem to bother her, but should be monitored. She has also had 4 teeth extracted at the time of her spay.
Matti has been given the Gift of Life by Jackie Harvey & Katerina Loopstra
