Xavia
16-05-26 Xavia has come to us from a breeder and is now looking for a loving forever home where he can begin his new life. He is overwhelmed to find himself here and clearly hasn’t had much human interaction before, so he can be quite anxious about being handled. He is especially frightened and wary of males, but with time and patience he does slowly start to gain trust. Xavia is much more worried when inside his kennel and will run away from you, however once he's in the play yard he seems to come out of his shell. He has already made so much progress since he arrived and has especially taken a liking to the female staff he knows and with his favourites he will now bounce over to them in excitement. He is trying so hard to be brave and with time, patience and plenty of TLC, we think he will flourish in a home.
Although Xavia is a worried boy, we feel he would be best suited to being homed as an only dog as he isn't keen on sharing his space with other dogs. He will be looking for a calm and quiet, adult only home where his adopters are around most of the time. He would need adopters who have experience with scared rescue dogs and who will let him settle in at his own pace.
As Xavia has never lived in a home before, his adopters will need to be patient and understanding while he learns all about home life and new skills such as house training. He is just starting to learn about walking on a lead and harness and will need continued support and practice as his confidence grows.
With time, love and kindness he will begin to leave his past behind and flourish into the wonderful boy that we know he is.
